Sale price£20.95

Lodestar Grooming Pioneer Matte Paste is an easy to use, high performing matte paste with a creamy, smooth scoop. The product feels lightweight in the hair and will give your style coarse texture with a pliable medium to firm hold. It has a true matte finish but doesn’t feel overly dry. Pioneer rinses out almost entirely with warm water and washes out completely with shampoo. It is also vegan friendly with zero animal-derived ingredients.

Harmony: A rich, intoxicating aroma with notes of lemon, pink pepper, neroli, rum, tobacco leaf and vanilla bean.

Top shelf stuff

First time purchase from Slickboys and won't be the last.

Pioneer is easy to scoop and effortless to work with. I would put hold as 4/5 as described, just add more if you need more.
If you're wondering whether this will work for your style, high chance it will. Only a week in but feels universal, wish I'd discovered Lodestar sooner.

Smell is by no means bad, but is fairly potent - takes away from the aftershave a tad. Still 5/5.
As for the service - fast delivery in a smart package with a personalised thank you and freebie? Speaks for itself...

Good job fellas.

Good product once you get further into the jar

The good about this product is that once I got past the top layer of paste, it is very easy to scoop out, smooth between hands, has a strong hold, and gives a nice texture to my hair.

The bad was that the top layer of the product was the exact opposite. It left little clumpy bits when smoothing out (kind of like grit) which would get stuck in my hair and the paste was very difficult to apply to hair.

Kathy from Lodestar responded promptly to my complaint and looked up the batch number of the jar. She said the batch was made a year ago, so it was a bit on the old side, and made a suggestion that maybe only the top layer has hardened, but the product below this layer might be good, which it was.

Sounds like this problem was either a one off for my jar or just does not occur for younger batches.

If it was not for this problem, then I would have given this a rating of 5 stars.
